Advanced Integration for Fertility Clinics Software

We partnered with a leading healthcare software provider specializing in comprehensive management systems for fertility, gynecology, and obstetrics clinics. Their intuitive and highly customizable software centralizes all clinical and administrative processes required by assisted reproduction units. This powerful tool helps clinics maintain the highest standards of quality while optimizing patient care and satisfaction.

Assisted reproduction units often depend on specialized external software to manage everything from patient records and appointments to lab data and results. For that reason, seamless integration with hospital systems was essential for our client. The challenge was to guarantee that the software could communicate using HL7 messaging protocols to ensure data integrity across various systems in any hospital. It also needed to interface with hospital systems through the proprietary REST API, whether deployed on-premise or in the cloud.

This integration needed to cover critical areas, including:

• Patient data and visits (ADT messages),
• Appointment scheduling (SIU messages),
• Pharmacy and treatment orders (OMP and RDS messages),
• Patient problems (PPR messages),
• Laboratory results and visit reports (ORU and MDM messages).

Additionally, the project also required integrating with laboratory analyzers using the E1381 and E1394 ASTM communication protocols.

Meditecs Smart Connect, our advanced integration engine, was tailored to each hospital’s unique requirements. The integration process was thorough, starting with the initial setup, followed by a custom adaptation phase, rigorous testing, and final deployment. This process ensured a reliable system in hospital environments, whether the software was on-premise or in the cloud.

Key elements of the solution included:

1. Bespoke Customization: Each integration was customized to the specific needs of each hospital, ensuring that the fertility software could easily interact with the existing systems.
2. HL7 Messaging Protocols: We integrated key HL7 messaging types such as ADT for patient admissions and visits, SIU for appointment scheduling, and ORU for laboratory results.
3. Support for REST API: The integration with the client’s REST API facilitated communication between the fertility software and the hospital systems.
4. Laboratory Integration: The system integrated directly with laboratory analyzers, enabling handling of lab data without manual intervention.

The project required considerable resources for the initial development and an additional configuration for each hospital-specific customization. To ensure long-term success, we committed to ongoing support, keeping the integration fine-tuned and reliable.

Today, we maintain successful integrations for this software provider in hospitals across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. This includes more than ten in Spain, some within the country’s largest private hospital chain, as well as hospitals in Abu Dhabi (UAE) and India.
