The Challenge
For teleradiology services, efficient communication is crucial. The process includes receiving radiological studies (like DICOM images) from hospitals, analyzing them, and then sending back detailed reports. The integration challenges include:
- Workflow Complexity: Management of diverse workflows, addenda, and requests for prior studies.
- Sizing of Server Resources: Processing and storage of large volumes of data and images.

The Solution
Following in-depth interoperability consulting, we deployed the Meditecs Smart Connect system as a communication facilitator. Utilizing DICOM and HL7 standards, and web service communications, this system effectively integrated the client’s management system (Agfa AHEI: PACS and RIS) with multiple hospital information systems, such as Sectra MEI and PACS (SE), GE Collaboration Tools (SE), Soliton RIS (UK), Wellbeing CRIS (UK) Philips PACS, GE PACS, Siemens PACS.
The system includes intelligent algorithms to select relevant patient clinical histories. This has increased productivity and resource optimization by 40%. Additional web application integration has improved workflow visibility and user experience, ensuring reliable and seamless delivery of teleradiology services.

Meditecs currently processes more than 50 million patient data records monthly through Imaging Platform integration with several regions and hospitals across Europe. We support and continue to improve teleradiology infrastructures in eleven regions in Sweden and seven NHS hospitals in the UK, with plans for further expansion.
